Because of my virtual sessions with Chelsea, I gained a deeper understanding of my body, how to create space for baby, protect my core and relieve discomfort. I’m convinced that my journey with Chelsea empowered me to trust my body and safely delivery out baby at home with a team of professionals.

She taught me how to become in tuned with my pelvic floor and carried me through postpartum when I had diastasis recti. Chelsea makes an effort to teach you about your body and helps you learn what works for you. She tailors the classes to your specific needs, and continually evolves with your stages of pregnancy and postpartum. In addition to exercise, stretching, and strengthening, Chelsea coaches you on using your breath which was especially helpful in active labor (I had her voice in my head doing four-parts breath during contractions).

I highly recommend prenatal yoga to all pregnant people, especially with Chelsea at Chickadee Yoga + Birth!

Chelsea’s very knowledgeable, mindful and kind. I just took a private, virtual prenatal class with her and LOVED it. It seemed to fly by. I was apprehensive about private yoga via zoom because I thought it might be awkward but once I got set up it worked out well. She also seems to have a lot of experience dealing with the limitations of teaching via zoom because it felt seamless and just as valuable as a private, in-person session.

Everything we did seemed to magically target tight or neglected areas of my pregnant body, like the rib cage or back of the shoulders. She also tailored the class to me and my needs (I have an injured toe), so she avoided lunges and such. I typically try to do my own exercises every day, but Chickadee Yoga is a great supplement to what I already do because there’s this mindful, patient element that’s missing when I’m by myself. For example, she does a great job of reminding you to breathe through every pose without it feeling forced. Also, as I said, she focused on areas that I didn’t even realize I was neglecting.

My 4 year old son started with Chelsea’s yoga class a few months ago and looks forward to his yoga lessons every Monday and Friday. I was not sure if he would be engaged through an online class as we did not do well with remote learning but he loves the class and will actively participate the entire session without me or my husband sitting with him. The class has been wonderful for my son’s focus, flexibility, balance and self confidence. It is also a great space for him to interact with other kids around his age. Chelsea is an amazing instructor and the type of positive influence you want surrounding your children. She is caring, thoughtful, patient, creative and really knows how to engage with children through her yoga adventures and Montessori background. I would recommend this class to anyone with young kids in a heartbeat!

Chelsea seemed to customize the session based on my goals/priorities that we discussed prior to beginning. During the intake, she asked insightful and important questions about my pregnancy, how I’ve felt, and what I want to work on. She was calm, instructive, and encouraging throughout the hour. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by the wealth and expansiveness of her prenatal knowledge. She explained things to me in a gentle, non-condescending way. There was a perfect balance of her doing the exercises with me as a demonstration and her standing up and observing/constructing my form. I felt very comfortable and supported, and I learned a lot!
