Prenatal Yoga Immersion: Supporting the Pregnant Yoga Student

  • Bhakti Center 25 1st Avenue New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

Overview

Do you ever feel nervous or unsure about how to support a pregnant yoga student in your general yoga classes? Have you wanted to learn more about the pregnancy experience and the shifts that take place in the pregnant body?

In this 5-hour immersion, you will learn how to effectively modify your yoga class and support the pregnant yoga student with confidence and compassion.

You can expect to practice a prenatal yoga class at the beginning of the workshop.

After you have embodied the practice, we will dive into lecture and discussion on topics including: the basic anatomy of the pelvis and pelvic floor, the benefits of prenatal yoga, how to incorporate safe and beneficial asana for pregnant students into your general yoga classes, why breathing and pranayama are important during pregnancy, using props for support, and how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for pregnant people! Some time will be given to brainstorming and practicing how to adjust a general yoga class sequence for a pregnant student.

This workshop is eligible for 5 hours of Continuing Education with Yoga Alliance upon request for a certificate.
